What is the Adult Remedial Driving Course
An Adult Remedial Driving Course is an Ohio-approved program designed to help drivers strengthen safe driving habits, better understand the consequences of unsafe driving decisions, and meet certain Ohio BMV or court requirements.

The course provides eight hours of instruction covering defensive driving practices, driver responsibility, Ohio traffic laws and many of the behaviors that contribute to crashes and traffic violations.
Who May Need an Adult Remedial Driving Course?
Adult Remedial Driving may be appropriate or required for drivers who:

-
Have accumulated points on their Ohio driving record
-
Have at least two but fewer than 12 points and want to apply for an eligible two-point credit
-
Are working toward reinstatement following a 12-point license suspension
-
Have been ordered by a court to complete remedial driving instruction
-
Need to complete an approved remedial driving course as part of another applicable BMV or court requirement

If you are unsure whether Adult Remedial Driving is the course you need, check your BMV or court documentation to confirm the specific requirement before registering.

Course Requirements
To successfully complete an Ohio Adult Remedial Driving Course, participants are required to complete the full eight hours of instruction and actively participate in the program.

The course also includes a final examination. Participants must correctly answer at least 75% of the examination questions to successfully complete the test.

Participants who are completing the course for a court or BMV requirement are responsible for ensuring that the course is completed within any deadline established by the court or Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
What You'll Receive
Participants who successfully complete the course receive an official Certificate of Completion for the approved Adult Remedial Driving Course.

Depending on the reason for taking the course, this certificate may be used as documentation when completing applicable Ohio BMV or court requirements.
Schedule
Classes are held twice per month on Saturday or Sunday
About the Two-Point Credit
Ohio drivers with at least two but fewer than 12 points on their driving record may be eligible to apply for a two-point credit after completing an approved remedial driving course.
The credit does not remove existing points from your driving record. Instead, it provides a two-point credit that may help protect against reaching Ohio's 12-point suspension threshold.
Eligibility rules and limitations apply.
