Who We Are
T.R. Fields & Associates, Inc. is an Ohio-based investigative and professional services firm led by Winner Clayton-Fields.

Our work is rooted in decades of legal and investigative experience and supported by a team of trained, Ohio-licensed investigators. From criminal defense investigations and private investigative services to background screening, fingerprinting, drug testing and other employment-related services, our focus is on providing thorough, professional and confidential support to the individuals, attorneys and organizations we serve.
How It Started
From Legal Support to Criminal Defense Investigation
In 1991, Thomas Fields conducted his first criminal defense investigation for Attorney Tom Agate of Akron, Ohio. That case marked a significant turning point in his career.

Between 1991 and 1993, Fields also worked part-time in the criminal defense section of the law firm Parms & Parms in Akron. Working under the direct supervision and mentorship of Defense Attorney Edwin L. Parms, he gained extensive hands-on experience investigating active criminal cases.

His responsibilities included interviewing defendants both in and out of custody, reviewing discovery materials, inspecting and photographing crime scenes, locating and interviewing witnesses, conducting follow-up interviews with prosecution witnesses, obtaining public records and assisting with investigative and legal documentation.

In 1994, Mr. Fields used that experience to launch his own investigative practice, Legal-T Investigations, serving the legal community as a Criminal Defense Investigator. This practice blossomed into T.R. Fields and Associates with Thomas Fields as Founder and CEO.

What began with a strong focus on criminal defense investigation has grown into a broader range of investigative, screening and professional services.
Today, Winner Clayton-Fields leads T.R. Fields & Associates, supported by a team of proffesionally trained, Ohio-licensed investigators.

While criminal and private investigations remain an important part of the firm's work, its services have expanded to include electronic fingerprint-based background checks, employment screening, drug and alcohol testing, DOT and non-DOT services, DOT physicals and other state-mandated and employment-related services.

This growth allows T.R. Fields & Associates to serve attorneys and private clients while also supporting businesses and organizations with important screening and compliance-related needs.
